Puredrive and Duracell Energy are linked
If you are comparing Puredrive with Duracell Energy, you are largely comparing products from the same UK company. Ask your installer which range they are quoting and who issues the warranty.
- Puredrive Energy is a UK company founded in 2016 by battery storage expert Mark Millar, based in Toddington near Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, that designs and distributes its own battery systems
- Its own PureStorage range included AC-coupled 5 kWh and 10 kWh systems scalable to 25 kWh, a 5 kWh DC hybrid battery and three-phase versions, all LiFePO4 with a 10-year warranty
- In 2022 Puredrive was awarded the licence to manufacture and distribute Duracell-branded energy storage, and a 2025 company round-up says it now exclusively supplies Duracell Energy products
- Puredrive's own-brand products still appear in installer and retailer listings, so check whether stock is current and who supports it

Who is Puredrive Energy
Puredrive Energy was founded in 2016 by UK Government battery storage expert Mark Millar and is based in Toddington, Gloucestershire. It describes itself as a British company that designs, develops, builds and distributes its own battery systems, drawing on earlier experience in marine, leisure, mobility and industrial batteries. Directory listings put it at about 100 staff, and it is part of The Maximeyes Group.
A defining milestone was the licence to manufacture and distribute Duracell-branded energy storage products, awarded in 2022. A 2025 company round-up says Puredrive is now the UK's fastest-growing home battery manufacturer, exclusively supplies Duracell Energy products and works with over 400 installers across the UK and Europe. These are company statements. For the Duracell-branded range, see our page on Duracell Energy.
The Puredrive Energy product range
Puredrive's own PureStorage range included the PureStorage AC systems, which are fully integrated AC-coupled batteries of 5 kWh and 10 kWh, scalable up to 25 kWh and suited to adding storage to an existing solar system. The PureStorage II 5 kWh DC hybrid battery and three-phase versions followed. Datasheets list LiFePO4 cells, a 10-year warranty, up to 10,000 cycles and IP65 protection.
The wider Puredrive ecosystem also included the PureCharger EV charger and the Puredrive app, all stated to be manufactured in-house in the UK and supported locally.

Key technology behind Puredrive batteries
Puredrive uses LiFePO4 cells with its own in-house designed battery at the heart of its products. The AC-coupled PureStorage units are all-in-one boxes, while the DC hybrid versions pair with a hybrid inverter. A built-in automatic backup supply is listed on its AC range, along with smart control and an app.
A UK installer says the range works with Octopus Energy and other time-of-use tariffs, but you should check the supported tariffs for your product and supplier.
Strengths and limitations
Here is a balanced picture of Puredrive Energy.
Strengths
- A UK company that designs, builds and supports its own batteries
- AC-coupled units that suit retrofitting storage to existing solar
- LiFePO4 cells and a stated 10-year warranty
- Licensed to build the Duracell Energy range, so it has volume and an installer network
Worth checking before you buy
- Its focus has moved to Duracell-branded products, so own-brand PureStorage stock and support may change
- Some details come from company statements and datasheets that are hard to verify independently
- Weight is high for some units, such as the 129 kg 10 kWh version listed in a datasheet directory
- Installer-led, not plug-in. In Great Britain, rules that took effect on 27 August 2026 allow plug-in solar panel kits of up to 800W to be self-installed, but they explicitly exclude plug-in batteries. A battery like this still needs fitting under the normal UK electrical and battery-storage rules.
Where Puredrive Energy fits the market
Puredrive sits in the British-made installed battery segment with myenergi, Powervault and GivEnergy. In practice most new buyers will meet it as Duracell Energy.
