Who stands behind the warranty

The Duracell name is licensed, and the warranty support comes from Puredrive Energy Ltd in the UK. If you are comparing quotes, ask the installer which company issues the warranty and whether it depends on registration or a specific commissioning route.

At a glance
  • Duracell Energy home batteries are made under licence: in 2022 Duracell awarded Puredrive Energy the licence to manufacture and distribute Duracell-branded energy storage, and Puredrive designs and engineers the products in Toddington, Gloucestershire
  • The Dura5 is a 5.12 kWh LiFePO4 battery, scalable in parallel, and the Dura16 LV is a 16 kWh wall-mounted battery with 14.4 kWh usable and 8,000 cycles, with up to 12 units in parallel
  • Duracell Energy lists a 10-year warranty on its batteries, with warranty support handled in the UK by Puredrive Energy rather than an overseas manufacturer
  • The range includes Dura-i hybrid inverters, a DuraCharger EV charger and the Duracell Energy app for monitoring and tariff integration

Who is Duracell Energy

Duracell is best known for consumer batteries. Its home energy storage range is not made by Duracell itself. In 2022, as a result of its success in the UK solar and storage market, Duracell awarded Puredrive Energy a licence to manufacture and distribute Duracell-branded energy storage products. Puredrive Energy was founded in 2016 by battery storage specialist Mark Millar and is based in Toddington, Gloucestershire.

The Duracell Energy website says it launched in the UK with a dedicated UK team, and an installer describes more than 100 UK staff providing research and development, technical expertise and customer support. A 2025 company round-up says Puredrive exclusively supplies Duracell Energy products and works with over 400 installers across the UK and Europe. Those are company statements, so treat them as such. See also our page on Puredrive Energy.

The Duracell Energy product range

The Dura5 is a 5.12 kWh LiFePO4 battery with 8,000 cycles, 90% depth of discharge and a 10-year warranty, designed to be connected in parallel for more capacity. The Dura16 LV is a larger 16 kWh wall-mounted module with 14.4 kWh usable, 51.2V and 314Ah, up to 130A charge and discharge, an IP65 rating given by retailers, and a maximum of 12 units in parallel (up to 192 kWh).

Alongside the batteries, Duracell Energy sells Dura-i G3 hybrid inverters in 3.6, 4, 5 and 6 kW options, the DuraCharger EV charger and the Duracell Energy app for monitoring and tariff optimisation. The Dura5 and Dura16 can be used with a Dura-i hybrid inverter or as standalone storage.

Key technology behind Duracell Energy batteries

Duracell Energy batteries use LiFePO4 cells at 51.2V, with CAN and RS485 communication to inverters. They are modular: the Dura5 can run up to 32 units in parallel according to a UK reviewer, and the Dura16 up to 12. The Dura16 supports 1C charge and discharge, so a full charge is possible in about an hour at the right inverter rating.

The Duracell Energy app handles monitoring and works with time-of-use tariffs, and the manufacturer says the range is ready for grid-services programmes. These are the maker's claims, so check how a particular tariff integration works for your supplier before relying on it.

Strengths and limitations

Here is a balanced picture of Duracell Energy.

Strengths

  • UK-designed and UK-supported, with warranty handled in the UK by Puredrive Energy
  • A well-known household brand name, which some buyers find reassuring
  • Modular LiFePO4 range from 5.12 kWh up to a single 16 kWh module
  • A matching inverter, EV charger and app so an installer can fit one ecosystem

Worth checking before you buy

  • The brand is licensed, so the company behind the product is Puredrive Energy, not Duracell
  • The 10-year warranty is conditional on how it is installed and registered; confirm the terms with your installer
  • Warranty on some installed bundles is shown differently by some retailers, so read the paperwork for your exact package
  • Installer-led: you cannot simply plug it in. In Great Britain, rules that took effect on 27 August 2026 allow plug-in solar panel kits of up to 800W to be self-installed, but they explicitly exclude plug-in batteries. A battery like this still needs fitting under the normal UK electrical and battery-storage rules.

Where Duracell Energy fits the market

Duracell Energy sits in the installed, low-voltage battery segment with Sunsynk, GivEnergy, Alpha ESS and myenergi. The UK engineering and support are its main selling points, particularly now that GivEnergy has entered administration.
