We compare, explain and calculate, without selling anything ourselves.

About Us

Our methodology

This page covers exactly how a review gets made at HomeBattery.com: who tests the battery, what we score it on, and where we draw the line on what we will and will not do.

  • Tested by us, every time
  • No manufacturer previews
  • Scored the same way, every time

How a review gets made

Every review follows the same three steps, whichever battery it covers.

1

Research

We start with the manufacturer's own specifications, independent technical documentation and what current owners say, so we know what to check once the battery is actually in front of us.

2

Test

We install the battery and use it the way a household would, day to day, rather than judging it from a spec sheet alone.

3

Write

We write up what we found in plain English, with the pros and cons stated honestly and the specs translated into what they actually mean for your home.

What we score

Every battery gets scored the same way, on the same four things, so reviews stay comparable to each other.

Design

How the battery looks and fits into a home, inside or outside, and how solid it feels once it is installed.

Installation

How straightforward the install is, how long it takes, and how much it adds to the total cost.

App and controls

What the app actually lets you see and change day to day, not just what the marketing screenshots show.

Backup power

Whether the battery keeps your home running in a power cut, and for how much of your normal usage.

What we will and will not do

What we will do

  • Test every battery ourselves before we write a word about it
  • State the honest pros and cons, including the ones that cost us a sale
  • Say plainly when a figure comes from a model or an estimate rather than a measurement
  • Mark every affiliate link and advertising placement clearly
  • Update a review when prices, specs or software change

What we will not do

  • Sell batteries or installations ourselves
  • Let a manufacturer or installer see a score before it goes live
  • Adjust a verdict because of a commission or a partnership
  • Hide a weakness to protect an affiliate deal
  • Publish a review of a battery we have not actually tested

How we’re funded

HomeBattery.com earns money through affiliate links and advertising, never through a manufacturer paying for a better score. Every sponsored or affiliate placement on this site is marked as such, and it never decides which battery wins a comparison or what a review concludes.

Keeping it current

Prices, incentive schemes and specifications change, so a review that was accurate when it was written can drift out of date. We revisit reviews when prices move, a product is updated or the rules shift, and update them rather than leave the old numbers standing. If we got something wrong, we correct it and say so, instead of quietly editing it away.

Frequently asked questions

Do manufacturers get to see a review before it is published?

No. We do not share a draft, a score or a verdict with a manufacturer or installer before it goes live, and nothing they say afterwards changes a published score.

How do you decide what to review next?

Mostly reader demand and market relevance, alongside gaps in what we have already covered. We are not paid to review a specific product.

What happens when a figure changes after publishing?

We update the review and note what changed, rather than leaving an outdated figure standing.

Can I challenge a score or a claim?

Yes. Tell us what you think is wrong and why. We check it against our sources and correct it if we got it wrong.
