We compare, explain and calculate, without selling anything ourselves.

About Us

How we make money

HomeBattery.com runs on affiliate commissions and advertising, nothing else.
This page sets out exactly how those two work, and the lines they are never allowed to cross.

  • No pay for ranking
  • Every paid link marked
  • Independent by design

What actually pays for this site

Two things keep the lights on here: a small cut when you buy through a link we have marked, and space we sell to advertisers. That is the complete list. We are not a retailer, an installer, or a lead-generation business on the side.

1

Affiliate commissions

Click through a marked link, buy a battery, and the retailer pays us a referral fee out of their own margin. Your price does not change.

2

Paid advertising

A banner or a sponsored slot, sold like advertising anywhere else and always marked as one. It buys visibility, never a place in a ranking.

What funds this site

  • Affiliate commissions when a reader buys through a link we have marked as affiliate
  • Display advertising, always labelled as an ad
  • Nothing else: we do not sell batteries, installations or leads

What never does

  • A manufacturer or installer paying for a better score
  • An advertiser choosing what we recommend
  • A hidden or unmarked affiliate link
  • A fee to read a review or see a ranking

Where we draw the line

Scores do not move for money. A battery’s verdict is locked in before any affiliate link gets added to the page, using the scoring system set out on our Our methodology page, so there is nothing left to negotiate by the time advertising or affiliate deals come into it.

Because the commission is much the same from one battery to the next, there is no upside in steering you toward a particular brand. Plenty of the batteries we rate highly earn us nothing at all, and we have marked a battery down even while we had a good affiliate deal running on it at the time.

What we refuse to do

A handful of things stay off the table, no matter who is asking.

Hands-on or it doesn't get published

No review goes up based on a spec sheet or a call with the manufacturer's marketing team. If we have not installed and lived with the battery ourselves, we do not write about it.

Nobody previews the verdict

Not the manufacturer, not the installer, not a PR agency. A review is finished and live before anyone outside this site has seen it.

No contract decides the score

We will not sign anything that sets a minimum score, bans certain criticisms, or hands a brand any kind of veto over the text.

Ads look like ads

Paid placements carry a clear label. We do not dress up a sponsored post as independent advice.

Think we got one wrong?

None of this income buys a say in what we publish. If a recommendation looks off to you, tell us what you think we missed. We would rather fix it than leave it standing.

Frequently asked questions

How do I spot an affiliate link?

Every one is marked, either right beside the link or in a short note near the top of the article. No mark means no affiliate relationship.

What does the money actually fund?

Hosting, the calculator, and the hours it takes to properly test a battery before writing a word about it.
