Components, not a turnkey system
Fogstar sells the battery. The inverter, installation, G98/G99 notification to your network operator and the commissioning all sit with you and your installer. If you want one company accountable for the whole system, an installer-led package is the simpler route.
- Fogstar is a UK battery brand with its headquarters and stock in Redditch, selling directly to households and through UK solar retailers
- Its home-storage range is built around a 5.12 kWh, 51.2V LiFePO4 server rack battery that can be paralleled up to 32 units (31 with Victron inverters), plus a 16.1 kWh floor-standing battery and 15 kWh and 30 kWh rack cabinets
- Fogstar's product page for the rack battery states a 10-year warranty, while other Fogstar pages list 6 to 8 years for some products, so check the terms for the exact model
- These are low-voltage batteries sold as components: they need a compatible inverter and a qualified electrician to fit, and are not an all-in-one installed product

Who is Fogstar
Fogstar is a UK battery company. It sells lithium leisure batteries for vans and boats under the Fogstar Drift name and home energy storage under the Fogstar Energy name. A UK solar installer that stocks the range describes Fogstar as having a UK-based sales and support team and large stocks at its Redditch headquarters.
Fogstar sells directly through its own website and through UK solar and electrical retailers. It is a price-led brand: its own range description pitches it as low-cost 48V storage. That puts it in a different place from installer-only brands, where the installer quotes you a complete system.
The Fogstar product range
The core home product is the Fogstar Energy 5.12 kWh server rack battery. It is a 51.2V LiFePO4 module of about 45 kg that slots into a standard 19-inch rack, and it ships with pre-loaded communication protocols for inverters including Victron, Sofar, Pylontech, Growatt, Solis and GoodWe. Up to 32 modules can be connected in parallel (31 with Victron inverters). Fogstar also sells 15 kWh and 30 kWh cabinets that hold three or six modules, a 16.1 kWh 48V battery and an IP56 outdoor cabinet system.
Outside home storage, the Fogstar Drift range covers 12V and 24V leisure batteries and chargers, and Fogstar also lists portable power stations in several sizes, from 1.5 kWh up to 5 kWh. Those products are aimed at vans, boats and off-grid use rather than whole-home storage.

Key technology behind Fogstar batteries
Fogstar rack batteries use LiFePO4 (lithium iron phosphate) cells and a PACE battery management system. A built-in heater switches on when the temperature falls below 5°C so the battery can charge in cold weather, which matters for garages and outbuildings in a UK winter.
The datasheet, as listed on ENF Solar, gives 5,000 cycles at 80% depth of discharge and a 15-year design life. Treat cycle figures as manufacturer claims and check the datasheet for the exact model. Fogstar also warns against connecting its rack batteries to any other make of rack battery.
Strengths and limitations
Fogstar is a good fit for some buyers and a poor one for others. Here is a balanced picture.
Strengths
- UK-based sales and support, with stock held in the UK rather than shipped from overseas on order
- Scalable rack design: start with one 5.12 kWh module and add more, in cabinets if you want a neat install
- Broad inverter compatibility through pre-loaded protocols, which suits people building a system around an inverter they already own
- Built-in low-temperature heating on the heated modules, useful for unheated garages
Worth checking before you buy
- Sold as a component, so the installer, inverter and commissioning are separate decisions and separate warranties
- Fogstar's own pages list different warranty lengths for different products (6 to 10 years), so confirm it for your model before buying
- Low-voltage rack systems need careful cable and busbar sizing at higher power; a qualified installer should specify this
- Not a plug-in product. In Great Britain, rules that took effect on 27 August 2026 allow plug-in solar panel kits of up to 800W to be self-installed, but they explicitly exclude plug-in batteries. A battery like this still needs fitting under the normal UK electrical and battery-storage rules.
Where Fogstar fits the market
Fogstar sits at the budget end of installed-style batteries, alongside other rack-battery sellers such as Eco-Worthy, Dyness and Pylontech. It suits DIY-minded households with an electrician, off-grid builds, and people adding storage to an existing inverter.
If you would rather buy a complete, installer-supported system, compare it with Sunsynk or Duracell Energy. If you are still working out what size you need, our capacity guide and free calculator come first.
Common questions about Fogstar
What does Fogstar make?
Fogstar sells lithium batteries: 12V and 24V leisure batteries under the Drift name, 48V rack and floor-standing batteries for home solar storage under the Fogstar Energy name, cabinets and chargers, and portable power stations.
Is Fogstar a UK company?
Fogstar is UK-based, with its headquarters and stock in Redditch and a UK sales and support team, according to a UK installer that stocks the range. Fogstar also states that its energy-storage cabinets are designed in the UK.
Can I install a Fogstar battery myself?
The battery is sold to the public, but connecting it to a home electrical system is not a casual DIY job. The inverter and battery should be installed and commissioned by a qualified electrician, and grid-connected systems need to be notified to your network operator. Fogstar's own instructions also warn against mixing its rack batteries with other makes.
Does a Fogstar battery work with my inverter?
Fogstar lists pre-loaded protocols for several inverters, including Victron, Sofar, Pylontech, Growatt, Solis and GoodWe. Always confirm the exact inverter model and firmware with Fogstar or your installer before buying, because compatibility depends on the model.
What warranty does Fogstar offer?
Fogstar's product page for the rack battery states 10 years. Other Fogstar pages list 8 years for some products, and its stackable battery 6 years from shipment with registration, so read the terms for the exact product and register the battery as Fogstar asks.
How much does a Fogstar system cost?
Prices change often and differ between Fogstar and its retailers, so we do not list them here. The battery is only part of the cost: add the inverter, cabinet or mounting, cabling and installation, and compare complete quotes.
