Warranty differs by seller

We found different warranty periods for the same DJI range depending on the retailer and country. Buy from DJI's own UK store or an authorised UK reseller and keep the receipt, so the UK terms apply.

At a glance
  • DJI, best known for drones and cameras, sells a range of LFP portable power stations: Power 500 (512 Wh), Power 1000 and 1000 V2 (1,024 Wh), Power 1000 Mini (1,008 Wh) and Power 2000 (2,048 Wh)
  • Maximum continuous output ranges from 1000W on the Power 500 to 3000W on the Power 2000, and the Power 2000 has a 3-year standard warranty that DJI extends by 2 years once it is connected to the DJI Home app, although some retailers list 2 years
  • The Power 2000 is rated for 4,000 cycles, and DJI says up to ten expansion batteries can be connected for up to 22,528 Wh in total
  • These are portable power stations, not home batteries: they are plugged in and charged from a socket, car or solar panel and are not wired into the house

Who is DJI

DJI is a consumer technology company best known for camera drones, gimbals and action cameras. Its Power series of portable power stations was designed first to keep drone batteries and camera kit charged on location, and the larger models are also sold for camping, road trips and short power cuts at home.

DJI sells the range through its own online store, including a UK store, and through UK drone and electronics retailers. Because the brand comes from drones, some features such as fast charging of drone batteries are built into the design.

The DJI product range

The range starts with the Power 500 (512 Wh, 1000W). The Power 1000 and Power 1000 V2 both hold 1,024 Wh; the V2 delivers 2,600W continuously and has an expansion path, while the original is rated at 2,200W. The Power 1000 Mini is the lightest, at 1,008 Wh and 11.5 kg, with a built-in 100W USB-C cable and a rated 800W output.

At the top is the Power 2000: 2,048 Wh, up to 3,000W continuous output and a weight of about 22 kg. DJI says the UK, EU and Australia versions recharge in about 45 minutes. A UK retailer comparison lists the Power 2000 as a stand-alone unit, while DJI's store says up to ten expansion batteries can be connected, so check the current accessory list before planning an expansion.

Key technology behind DJI power stations

DJI uses LFP (lithium iron phosphate) cells, and says the Power 1000 Mini's cells passed nail-penetration testing. The Power 1000 Mini has a UPS mode that starts powering a connected device within 0.01 seconds if grid power drops, as long as the unit and the device both start on mains power.

Recharging from the mains is fast across the range, and the Mini can be recharged at temperatures down to -10°C, which a UK reseller notes is ten degrees colder than the Power 1000 V2 and Power 2000 allow.

Strengths and limitations

Here is a balanced picture of the DJI Power series.

Strengths

  • Established consumer-electronics brand with a UK online store and UK resellers
  • LFP chemistry and a wide capacity range from 512 Wh to 2,048 Wh
  • Fast charging and a compact Power 1000 Mini
  • UPS function on supported models for short outages

Worth checking before you buy

  • Portable power stations only: they do not connect to a home's wiring and do not manage tariffs
  • Warranty and price vary by retailer and country, so check the UK terms
  • The largest unit is about 22 kg, which is heavy to move regularly
  • Capacity tops out at about 2 kWh per unit unless you add expansion batteries

Where DJI fits the market

DJI competes with EcoFlow, Bluetti, Jackery, Anker SOLIX and Pecron. It is a good fit for creators, drone operators, campers and anyone wanting a short-outage backup for essentials.

If your aim is to cut a household electricity bill, an installed or plug-in home battery does a different job. Our guide to using a home battery without solar panels explains the difference, and our free calculator shows what size you would need.

Common questions about DJI

What does DJI make for energy storage?

DJI sells portable power stations in its Power series, including the Power 500, Power 1000, Power 1000 V2, Power 1000 Mini and Power 2000.

Is DJI a UK company?

No. DJI is a technology company best known for drones. It sells its power stations in the UK through a UK online store and UK resellers.

How long can a DJI Power 2000 run my fridge?

A modern fridge-freezer averages roughly 50 to 100W over a day, so a 2,048 Wh unit could cover it for a day or more, but real runtime depends on the appliance and how often its compressor runs.

Can I connect a DJI power station to my home?

These units are designed to be plugged into. They are not a grid-connected home battery, and connecting any battery to household wiring should be done by a qualified electrician under UK rules.

What warranty does DJI give?

For the Power 2000, DJI states 3 years as standard plus 2 more after the unit is first connected to the DJI Home app, while some retailers list 2 years. Terms differ by model, so check the warranty shown for the model and seller you buy from in the UK.

Which DJI Power model is best for a short power cut?

For a few essentials such as a router, lights and phone chargers, a Power 1000 Mini or Power 1000 V2 is usually enough. For heavier loads, the Power 2000 offers more output and capacity.
