Who is Jackery

Jackery was founded in 2012 in Silicon Valley, California. The company started by building lightweight, solar-compatible power packs for campers and outdoor workers. In 2016 it launched its first lithium portable power station under the Explorer name, and in 2018 it followed up with the SolarSaga portable solar panel line.

Jackery is now the flagship consumer brand of Shenzhen Hello Tech Energy Co., Ltd., a Chinese energy storage manufacturer. Hello Tech listed on the ChiNext board of the Shenzhen Stock Exchange in September 2022, under the ticker 301327. In other words, Jackery’s products are developed and backed by a publicly listed parent company, even though the Jackery brand itself was born in the United States.

By 2023 Jackery had sold 3 million units worldwide cumulatively, and by 2024 that figure had reached 4 million. The brand states it had sold more than 6 million units globally between January 2018 and September 2025. Jackery describes itself as a top-selling outdoor power brand in markets such as the US and Japan, and its products are now sold in nearly 10,000 retail stores across more than 50 countries and regions.

For most of its history, Jackery focused purely on portable power. That changed in 2025, when it debuted a dedicated home energy storage system, a solar roof tile, and an RV power kit, moving the brand firmly into fixed home and balcony storage alongside its original portable range.

The Jackery product range

Jackery’s lineup splits into two broad groups. The first is the original Explorer family of portable power stations. The second, newer group covers fixed home backup and plug-in balcony storage. Both use LiFePO4 (LFP) cells, but they are designed for different jobs.

Portable power stations

The Explorer series spans small, pocketable units through to flagship models well over 5,000Wh. For example, the Explorer 2000 v2 holds 2,042Wh, delivers 2,200W of continuous AC power, and is rated for about 4,000 charge cycles to 70% capacity. Jackery backs it with a 5-year warranty, which is typical of its current LiFePO4 models.

These units are built for camping, vehicle trips, and short-term emergency backup. They pair with SolarSaga folding solar panels for off-grid charging. As a result, an Explorer unit can run small appliances, charge devices, or keep essentials powered during a short outage, without any fixed wiring.

Jackery also sells FridgeGuard, a narrower 1,024Wh backup unit designed to sit inline between a wall outlet and a refrigerator. It switches to battery power in about 10 milliseconds if the grid drops, so a fridge keeps running through a brief outage. It is a niche product, but it shows how Jackery adapts its core power-station technology for specific household jobs.

Home and balcony storage

The HomePower series is Jackery’s push into whole-home backup. It spans three tiers: the HomePower 1000 v2 (1,024Wh), the HomePower 2000 Plus v2, and the flagship HomePower 3600 Pro Max (3,584Wh). The 3600 Pro Max can expand to 21.5kWh as a single unit, or up to 43kWh when two units run in parallel with add-on expansion batteries.

That flagship model switches to battery power in under 10 milliseconds during an outage. It also includes a built-in automatic transfer switch, simultaneous 120V and 240V output, and UL 9540 certification for energy storage safety. Jackery backs it with a 3-year standard warranty, extendable to 5 years when registered directly with Jackery.

Separately, Jackery sells a plug-in storage line aimed at balcony and retrofit solar setups: the SolarVault 3 series and the earlier Navi 2000. SolarVault 3 is modular, starting at 2.52kWh and scaling up to 15.12kWh, with up to four MPPT solar trackers and an AI energy manager that can shift charging to cheaper grid hours using services such as Nordpool, Tibber, and Rabot. Navi 2000 is a simpler, all-in-one unit with a 2,000Wh battery, expandable to 8kWh, built into a weatherproof IP65 housing.

However, this balcony and plug-in line launched first in the Netherlands, Germany, and France, not globally. In other words, availability still varies a lot by country, so buyers should check Jackery’s own regional site before assuming a specific model is sold where they live.

Key technology behind Jackery

Jackery’s current range runs on lithium iron phosphate (LFP) cells, including what the brand calls “EV-grade” LFP in its HomePower flagship. LFP is more thermally stable than the older NMC chemistry Jackery used in some early products, and it generally tolerates more charge cycles before capacity fades.

A fast UPS switchover is a recurring feature across the range. Both the HomePower 3600 Pro Max and the fridge-focused FridgeGuard claim a switch to battery power in around 10 milliseconds, which is fast enough that most connected electronics never notice the grid has dropped.

Modularity is another theme. The HomePower 3600 Pro Max and the SolarVault 3 series both use add-on expansion batteries, so owners can start small and scale up later rather than buying full capacity upfront. Meanwhile, the SolarVault’s AI energy management links to regional electricity pricing services, aiming to charge when power is cheap and discharge when it is expensive.

Safety certification features prominently in Jackery’s marketing for its fixed storage products. The HomePower 3600 Pro Max carries UL 9540 certification, a US standard for energy storage systems, alongside fireproofing measures and a dedicated emergency power-off switch.

Strengths and limitations

Jackery’s biggest advantage is its long head start in portable LiFePO4 power stations, which gives it manufacturing scale and brand recognition that newer home-storage entrants lack. That said, its fixed home and balcony storage products are much younger, so they carry less of a track record than the portable range they grew out of.

Pros

  • Jackery popularised affordable, portable LiFePO4 power stations for everyday backup
  • Current models use LFP cells rated for thousands of charge cycles
  • Many units carry warranties of up to 5 years
  • The HomePower 3600 Pro Max switches to battery power in about 10 milliseconds
  • The range stretches from pocketable chargers to whole-home backup systems
  • SolarVault's AI mode can shift charging toward cheaper electricity hours

Cons

  • The home and balcony storage line launched far more recently than Jackery's power stations
  • SolarVault and Navi models are not yet sold in every market
  • Flagship units such as the 3600 Pro Max are heavy and need careful handling to move
  • Jackery has a shorter track record in fixed home storage than specialist battery brands
  • Scaling a HomePower system to its full expanded capacity adds significant cost on top of the base unit

Where Jackery fits the market

Jackery suits buyers who want backup power that starts small and can grow. A household might begin with a single Explorer unit for camping or outages, then move up to a HomePower system once they decide they want broader home coverage. By contrast, someone who already knows they want a large, permanently wired whole-home battery may be better served by a specialist home battery brand with a longer fixed-storage track record and an established local installer network.

The SolarVault and Navi balcony line is particularly relevant for renters and apartment dwellers who cannot install a full rooftop system but want to store solar power from a small plug-in setup. In some markets, such as the Netherlands, plug-in solar storage already fits within existing rules for small-scale systems. In the UK, however, newer permitted development rules that take effect from 27 August 2026 only cover plug-in solar panels, not plug-in batteries, so a product like SolarVault would still need installing under normal electrical rules if and when it reaches the UK market. Buyers should always check local regulations before fitting any plug-in storage device.

Overall, Jackery sits between pure portable-power brands and dedicated home battery specialists, with a foot in both camps. Common questions about Jackery

What is Jackery best known for?

Jackery is best known for its Explorer portable power stations, which it has sold since 2016. These are battery packs you can carry, charge from solar panels or the grid, and use to run appliances during camping trips or power cuts. In short, portable power is where the brand built its reputation.

Does Jackery make a home battery for whole-house backup?

Yes. The HomePower series is Jackery's fixed home backup range, topped by the HomePower 3600 Pro Max. It can expand up to 43kWh with add-on battery packs and includes a built-in automatic transfer switch. As a result, it can power more of a home's circuits than a portable unit alone.

Can I use a Jackery battery with balcony solar panels?

Jackery sells a plug-in storage line, SolarVault 3 and Navi 2000, aimed at balcony and small retrofit solar setups. However, these launched first in the Netherlands, Germany, and France, so availability elsewhere varies. In the UK, for example, rules from 27 August 2026 made plug-in solar panels legal to self-install, but plug-in batteries are explicitly excluded from that change, so professional installation would still apply there.

What battery chemistry does Jackery use?

Jackery's current range uses lithium iron phosphate (LFP) cells, including what it calls EV-grade LFP in its HomePower flagship. LFP is generally more thermally stable than older lithium chemistries. It also tends to support more charge cycles before capacity fades.

How long do Jackery batteries last?

Cycle life varies by product line. The Explorer 2000 v2 is rated for about 4,000 cycles to 70% capacity, while the HomePower 3600 Pro Max is rated for 6,000 cycles, equivalent to roughly 16 years of daily use. Warranty terms vary too: many current models carry up to 5 years, though some require registering directly with Jackery to unlock the full term.

Is Jackery a publicly listed company?

Jackery itself is a brand rather than the listed entity. Its parent company, Shenzhen Hello Tech Energy Co., Ltd., listed on the ChiNext board of the Shenzhen Stock Exchange in September 2022 under ticker 301327. Therefore, Jackery's products are backed by a company with public financial reporting, even though Jackery as a brand name was founded in the US.
