Who is Zendure
Zendure was founded in 2017, originally as Guangzhou Jianghai Technology Co., Ltd. The company is now headquartered in East Palo Alto, California, in the heart of Silicon Valley. It also runs research and operations centres in China’s Greater Bay Area, Japan and Germany.
Zendure started out in portable power. Early crowdfunded products included the SuperTank and SuperBase Pro power stations. By 2021, it had become a Chinese National High-Tech Enterprise. The following year, it closed Series A and A+ funding alongside a $5.39 million SuperBase V Kickstarter campaign.
The real pivot came in 2023, when Zendure launched SolarFlow, its plug-in balcony battery system, in Germany. That launch passed €1.2 million in first-day sales. It also became, that July, the first balcony energy storage system to earn a TÜV Mark. In the same year, Zendure raised a Series A++ round of close to CNY 100 million, led by Sinovation Ventures. It also opened a German subsidiary to support its European growth.
In 2025, electronics manufacturer Han’s Laser made a strategic investment in Zendure. Afterwards, the company says its production lines scaled to an annual capacity of more than one million units. As a result, SolarFlow has become Zendure’s flagship line. That said, it still sells SuperBase-branded portable power stations alongside it.
The Zendure product range
Zendure’s main product is SolarFlow, a family of stackable, plug-in batteries. These connect to a home’s solar panels through a dedicated micro-inverter. Because the batteries plug into a normal wall socket rather than the switchboard, most markets need little to no rewiring. However, the range has expanded quickly, so it helps to break it down by generation.
SolarFlow add-on batteries: AB1000 and AB2000
The original SolarFlow battery, now sold as the AB1000, stores 960Wh using automotive-grade LiFePO4 cells. Its larger sibling, the AB2000, doubles that to 1,920Wh. It also adds self-heating, so it can charge down to -20°C. By contrast, the AB1000 only operates above 0°C. Both carry a 10-year warranty and are rated for about 3,000 cycles to 80% capacity, or 6,000 cycles to 70%.
Up to four AB1000 or AB2000 units can be stacked on one Hub 2000 or PowerHub. Together, they give a maximum of about 7.68kWh. The hub itself manages two MPPT solar inputs. It then feeds a separate micro-inverter, with Zendure recommending Hoymiles units, to push power into the home. In addition, everything is monitored through the Zendure app, which also sets how much solar power is used immediately versus stored for later.
SolarFlow Mix Series (2026)
In February 2026, Zendure unveiled a new generation at Solar Solutions Amsterdam. The SolarFlow 2400 Pro, 2400 AC+ and 1600 AC+ replaced the earlier Hyper 2000. These start from about 2.4kWh and expand to roughly 14.4kWh. Prices start from around €599 for the 1600 AC+, rising to around €999 for the 2400 Pro.
Two months later, Zendure launched the SolarFlow Mix Series across Germany, France, the Netherlands, Belgium and Switzerland. The line covers three models: the 4000 Mix Pro, 4000 Mix AC+ and 3000 Mix AC+. Each uses 8kWh battery modules that stack up to about 50kWh. They also add 4kW (or 3kW on the smallest model) of bidirectional AC output, plus a 10-millisecond automatic switchover to backup power. In the Netherlands, recommended retail prices run from around €2,059 for the 3000 Mix AC+ to around €2,899 for the 4000 Mix Pro.
Zendure still sells SuperBase V portable power stations too. However, SolarFlow is the line this page focuses on, since it is Zendure’s core home-storage business.

Key technology behind Zendure
Every SolarFlow battery uses lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) chemistry. This is more thermally stable than the nickel-based cells found in many older power stations. Zendure backs this up with ZenGuard, a dual battery management system paired with heat-aerosol fire suppression built into each pack.
On the software side, Zendure’s ZEN+OS ties its hardware together. Meanwhile, its HEMS 2.0 platform extends that control to heat pumps and EV chargers as well as batteries. Its ZenKi AI engine forecasts weather and household consumption, then times charging and discharging against dynamic electricity tariffs. Zendure says this now connects to more than 840 European energy suppliers, including well-known dynamic-tariff providers such as Tibber.
In practice, this means a SolarFlow system can switch to battery backup within about 10 milliseconds of a power cut. This is fast enough that most appliances never notice. That said, the most advanced automation, such as full HEMS control, still needs extra hardware like a CT clamp or a Satellite Plug accessory.
Strengths and limitations
Zendure’s main appeal is simplicity: a battery that plugs in rather than one that needs a full rewiring job. That said, the brand’s fast pace of new launches brings its own trade-offs.
Pros
- Genuinely plug-in design, so most units need no rewiring.
- LiFePO4 chemistry carries a 10-year warranty across the range.
- Stacks from a single small battery up to about 50kWh.
- AI-driven app optimises charging against dynamic electricity tariffs.
- Works with over 840 European energy suppliers.
- Was first to earn a TÜV Mark for balcony energy storage, in 2023.
Cons
- Raising feed-in power above the standard 800W limit usually still needs an installer visit.
- The product lineup has changed quickly, which can confuse buyers comparing generations.
- Warranty and support experience varies by country as Zendure expands into new markets.
- The entry-level AB1000 stops charging below 0°C, unlike the self-heating AB2000.
- Full HEMS automation needs extra hardware, such as a CT clamp or Satellite Plug.
Where Zendure fits the market
Zendure sits in the plug-in, or balcony, battery category, alongside brands such as Indevolt and Growatt’s Noah range. These products target homeowners who already have solar panels. They also suit anyone who wants a small, simple system, rather than a large whole-home installation.
The plug-in pitch is genuine, but not absolute. In most countries, a Zendure system can be fitted without an electrician, up to the local feed-in limit, typically 800W. Beyond that, raising the feed-in power usually still needs an installer visit. Zendure’s own Dutch team has confirmed as much in trade press interviews.
Regional rules matter here. In Great Britain, for example, new permitted development rules made plug-in solar panel kits legal to self-install from 27 August 2026. This covers England, Scotland and Wales; Northern Ireland has separate rules. However, that change explicitly excludes plug-in batteries. So a Zendure battery sold in the UK still needs installing under the normal rules.
Zendure is pushing hardest into continental Europe, and the Netherlands specifically. Dutch demand is rising as the country phases out its net-metering scheme (saldering). As a result, storing solar power is becoming more valuable than exporting it. Zendure has partnered with Sunergy to expand there. Its own team has also said it is deliberately building a mid-market brand, rather than competing purely on price.
Because SolarFlow spans small single-battery kits and much larger Mix Series systems, the right size depends heavily on household usage. Our battery capacity guide breaks down typical needs by kWh. Meanwhile, the free home battery calculator can help match a Zendure system, or any other brand, to an actual bill.
Common questions about Zendure
What is Zendure SolarFlow?
SolarFlow is Zendure's range of plug-in, stackable home batteries. It is built to work with new or existing solar panels without major rewiring. The range runs from small single-battery kits to the larger SolarFlow Mix Series launched in 2026.
How much does a Zendure SolarFlow system cost?
Prices vary by model and country. As an example, Dutch recommended retail prices for the SolarFlow Mix Series start around €2,059 for the 3000 Mix AC+. They rise to about €2,899 for the 4000 Mix Pro. Smaller AB1000 and AB2000 add-on batteries cost considerably less. Always check Zendure's own site for current local pricing, since these figures change over time.
Can I install a Zendure battery myself?
Often, yes, up to the standard feed-in limit, usually 800W. However, many households want to raise the feed-in power beyond that limit. Zendure's own Dutch team has said this generally still needs an installer visit. So it is best to treat "plug-in" as reducing installation work, not removing it completely.
How long do Zendure's batteries last?
Zendure's SolarFlow batteries use LiFePO4 cells rated for about 3,000 cycles to 80% capacity, or 6,000 cycles to 70%. The company backs the AB1000, AB2000 and SolarFlow Mix Series with a 10-year warranty. In other words, most households can expect a decade or more of daily cycling before capacity falls meaningfully.
What is the SolarFlow Mix Series?
The SolarFlow Mix Series is Zendure's 2026 generation of home batteries: the 4000 Mix Pro, 4000 Mix AC+ and 3000 Mix AC+. Each stacks from an 8kWh base up to about 50kWh, with bidirectional AC output and AI-driven energy management. It launched across Germany, France, the Netherlands, Belgium and Switzerland in April 2026.
Is Zendure available outside Europe?
Yes, though its push into plug-in balcony storage is strongest in Europe, especially Germany and the Netherlands. Zendure is headquartered in California. It also sells SuperBase portable power stations in markets such as the US, Japan and Australia. That said, SolarFlow availability and certification vary by country, so it is worth checking local stock before buying.
