Who is Indevolt
Indevolt is a trading name of Power Genius GmbH, a German energy storage company based near Munich. The business was founded in 2022 by a team with backgrounds in photovoltaics, battery storage and EV technology. Several of its founders are graduates of the Technical University of Munich, with experience at firms including Siemens, Nokia and Huawei.
According to Indevolt, the company set out to build a storage system homeowners could install themselves. This was meant to address high European energy prices and a shortage of qualified installers. The current product generation launched in 2024, and the brand now sells into several European markets, including the UK, through localised online stores.
The Indevolt product range
Indevolt’s range centres on two product lines, SolidFlex and PowerFlex. Within each line, some models add their own MPPT solar input. However, Indevolt builds “AC” and “ECO” branded models, such as SolidFlex 3000 AC and SolidFlex 2000 ECO, for AC coupling onto an existing solar inverter instead of a direct PV connection.
Both lines use the same modular “BatteryFlex” approach, pairing a base power unit with one or more expansion battery packs. According to Indevolt, up to three units can run in parallel to add both power and capacity.
Base units start at around 1.8 kWh of stated capacity. Indevolt does not specify whether this is nominal or usable, so check the datasheet for the exact model. Its own figures put a fully expanded, paralleled system at up to around 66 kWh. However, the workings behind that figure are not fully explained in its published specifications. As a result, treat it as a ceiling rather than a typical install.

Key technology behind Indevolt batteries
The headline feature across the range is what Indevolt calls semi-solid LiFePO4 cells. This is a lithium iron phosphate chemistry that the company markets as safer and more stable than conventional liquid-electrolyte lithium batteries.
Each system runs its own control software locally rather than depending on a cloud connection. For connectivity, it offers Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and LoRa, plus an optional 4G module.
Indevolt also publishes a local API, and the range integrates with Home Assistant and several other smart home and energy monitoring platforms. Alongside this, the brand offers its own app for monitoring and, on some models, dynamic tariff tracking.
Strengths and limitations
As with any brand, Indevolt’s own marketing understandably leads with its strengths. Here is a more balanced picture.
Strengths
- Plug-in, modular design that does not require rewiring your consumer unit for the base unit
- Semi-solid LiFePO4 cells, a chemistry with a stronger safety record than standard liquid lithium cells
- Works locally without a cloud dependency, with an open API for Home Assistant and similar platforms
- Compatible with most existing microinverters when used in AC-coupled mode, according to Indevolt
Worth checking before you buy
- Capacity and output vary a lot between SolidFlex, SolidFlex ECO and PowerFlex models, so check the exact SKU rather than the brand name
- Some of Indevolt's own published figures, such as maximum stacked capacity, are inconsistent across its documentation
- Not yet as established a professional installer network as some larger, longer-running brands have built up
- We have not independently tested Indevolt's pricing, support or installation process ourselves
Where Indevolt fits the market
Indevolt sits in the plug-in and AC-coupled segment of the market. This is different from the whole-house, professionally installed systems covered elsewhere on this site. Within that plug-in segment, it competes most directly with brands such as EcoFlow, Anker and Zendure. It does not go head-to-head with whole-house suppliers. That makes it a closer fit for homes retrofitting storage onto an existing solar array, or for balcony and apartment setups with limited space. It is less suited to a new-build, whole-house installation.

Common questions about Indevolt
What does Indevolt make?
Indevolt makes plug-in and AC-coupled home battery systems under the SolidFlex and PowerFlex names. It designs them to store solar power for later use without a full rewiring job.
Is Indevolt's semi-solid LiFePO4 battery safer than a standard lithium battery?
Semi-solid LiFePO4 is generally considered a safer, more thermally stable chemistry than liquid-electrolyte lithium batteries. However, most reputable battery brands now use some form of LiFePO4 for home storage. This makes it a difference of degree, rather than Indevolt being the only safe option.
Can I install an Indevolt battery myself?
Indevolt markets its systems as plug-and-play, and it designs the base units for DIY installation. Always check your local wiring regulations and your own competence before carrying out electrical work yourself. Use a qualified, licensed installer if in doubt.
Does Indevolt work with my existing solar inverter?
Indevolt designs its AC-coupled models to work alongside an existing solar inverter rather than replacing it. According to Indevolt, this covers the large majority of microinverters on the market. However, it is worth confirming compatibility with your specific inverter before buying.
Which markets is Indevolt available in?
Indevolt sells into several European markets, including Germany and the UK, through its own online store. As with any newer entrant, it is worth weighing its shorter track record against more established brands when you compare options. This applies whichever market you are buying in.
How much does an Indevolt battery cost?
Indevolt does not publish one fixed retail price list, and prices shift by region, bundle, promotion and expansion pack. Check Indevolt's own store for current pricing in your market. Use our calculator to work out the capacity you actually need before comparing costs.
